My one and only Alex,
As you rode your Green Machine Hot Wheel down the street with your riding gloves on, I saw you hesitate. Your focus came on the 5 friends that we just down the street playing football in the front yard. My first thought was that you were embarrassed to be walking with your Mom (hello, I am 11 years old) and to be on a hot wheel with driving gloves on your hands. (No, I did not ask.)
You stopped and looked their way. I watched and wondered what was going through your mind. Then I suddenly realized the reason you came to a complete stop was to dig in, begin from that point and tear out as fast as you could. Racing by your friends, you put up your gloved hand and waved and threw your head back in laughter. WOW! Show up and own that stuff girl!
Your ability to embrace life and YOURSELF is an inspiration to me - daily! Hell, just a few weeks ago I had a middle school moment. I’ve only been a member at my new gym for about 6 weeks, so I really don’t know anyone. The coach called for us to partner up and after about a minute asked who didn’t have a partner. You guessed it - ME! I raised my hand to signal to the 40 people there that I need assistance in this simple social task. UGH!
Middle school. Two words that have been striking fear in the hearts of millions for years. Except you. Your ability show up as you has always amazed me. You have taken me into places in my heart that I didn’t know existed.
I’m not sure how it is possible for you to begin this journey since I was just prying you from my legs two months to start kindergarten. But, we have arrived.
Fly, my beautiful girl. Life is waiting for you and you will NOT disappoint.
All my love,
